Marcus' First Photo Shoots

Sorry it has been so long since I last "Blogged." I think that Christmas and the New Year just wiped me out. That and trying to juggle a new job, new baby, Tyler and school starting back up has had me hopping.

As a way of update, Marcus is growing and doing great. At his two month check-up he was up to 12 lbs 6 oz and doing great. He is, for the most part, a very mellow baby. Tyler meanwhile seems to love his little brother and is generally very good to him.

This past week Marcus had his first two photo shoots. One at JC Penney with his brother and the other at home with his mommy. We think that several of the photos turned out fairly well. Jamie was a little disappointed with the trip to JC Penney because the lady who helped her really seemed rushed and disinterested. It is a shame when you have two little ones cooperating so well and the grown-up doesn't. Oh well, a couple of good ones came out of it.

One quick story. Tyler has really been discovering his imagination lately. It is entertaining watching the ways his mind is developing. The past few weeks he has decided that he has sufficiently mastered the English language and is ready to develop his own. SO...he has started randomly inserting words like "Cha Kah" and "Kee Yow" into sentences. This week Jamie tried to call him on one. She asked what "Cha Kah" meant. He calmly replied, "to go to work." Sure enough that night when I came home and asked him what new word he taught mommy he said, "Cha Kah means to go to work." We have decided that he must be speaking "Ty-wanese."

Tyler is also really enjoying the box of his dad's toys that he discovered in the basement. It is really a shame that when I was ten I didn't have an unfinished basement of my own. I can see so clearly how my Sky Commander, Mask, Transformer and G.I. Joe toys would be so great down there if I still had my ten year old imagination. Tyler meanwhile loves to discover the new toys we have kept from him these past two years. I often chuckle to myself when I pick up a toy and see that it was manufactured in 1980 or 1984. Pretty cool that he is getting such a kick out of toys that are twenty years older than him.
In other news, Jamie has joined with several women in the ward for a Biggest Loser contest. (Not as weight focused as it sounds, it is much more concerned with healthy living than just weight loss). I have been very proud of the way that she has made up a little fridge chart to monitor her goals and has been trying to get to the gym in the early hours of the morning. Of course, it has resulted in her often turning in for the night before nine o'clock and leaving me lonely. I won't be far behind her though if Tyler's current sleeping patterns continue. He has decided that 1) he finds the early morning a great time to be spunky and 2) that spunkiness should start promptly at 5:30 am. Now, I confess I've never been much of a morning person anyways, but 5:30 is TOO EARLY for that kind of spunk!!! It might not be so bad except that with school I am often doing homework or winding down until midnight or later. That makes for some long, groggy days!

Hope this brief update was fun. I hope all is well with all of our friends and loved ones.
